Energy Training Partnership Grants: The Recovery Act provides $750 million for a program of competitive grants for worker training and placement in high growth and emerging industries. Of the $750 million allotted for competitive grants, the Recovery Act designates $500 million for projects that prepare workers for careers in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors described in Section 171(e)(1)(B) of the Workforce Investment Act. The purpose of these green job training grants is to teach workers the skills required in emerging energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. For additional information about the series of competitive grants for green job training, please refer to the Training and Employment Notice (TEN) 44-08 available at http://www.doleta.gov/Recovery/legislation.cfm. This Webinar serves as a virtual prospective applicant conference under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Notice of Availability of Funds and Solicitation for Grant Applications for Energy Training Partnership Grants (SGA/SFA PY-08-18). This announcement is being made available on the Employment and Training Administration Web sites at: http://www.doleta.gov/grants and http://www.grants.gov. Under the Recovery Act, the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employment and Training Administration (ETA) announces the availability of approximately $100 million in grant funds to national, non-profit labor management organizations and Statewide or local nonprofit entities. A portion of the funds under this Solicitation for Grant Application (SGA) will be reserved for communities or regions undergoing auto industry related restructurings. The Department is seeking to fund projects that will provide training and placement services in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries for workers impacted by national energy and environmental policy, individuals in need of updated training related to the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries, and unemployed workers. This Webinar consists of a high-level overview of the Energy Training Partnership Grants. Prospective Applicants are strongly encouraged to have reviewed the Solicitation prior to attending the Webinar. The target audiences for this Webinar are national, non-profit labor management organizations and Statewide or local nonprofit entities.
